We are currently recruiting for a Small Events and Activities Organiser. Please see the full job description here, or the summary below.
If this doesn't feel like the right role for you but you have a couple of hours to spare and would be interested in getting involved, please just get in touch for a chat: volunteers@sevenoakswelcomesrefugees.org . We would love to hear from you!
If you have a few hours a month to spare and want to play a meaningful role in supporting refugees across the Sevenoaks district, this could be the role for you.
As a Trustee Without Portfolio, you'll bring your skills and experience to SWR's Board — contributing to strategic decisions, helping to shape the organisation's direction, and ensuring we remain effective and accountable — without taking on a specific operational brief. You'll attend monthly Board meetings, help oversee SWR's financial plans and risk management, and contribute your networks and judgment to promote the charity's aims. Occasionally, you may take on a special project such as reviewing a policy paper or contributing to a specific piece of work — but this is by mutual agreement. With meetings held in the evenings, this role is well suited to people in near full-time employment, and there is always the option to take on a more involved operational role if your interest and availability grow over time.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a new and growing area of SWR's work. As part of our 2026–29 Strategic Plan, we're expanding our mission to include greater community engagement — building local understanding of the challenges refugees face and the contributions they make to our economy and community life.
As Trustee for Community Outreach, you'll join the Board and take on an operational lead role, working with volunteers, the Small Events Organiser, and colleagues across Fundraising and Communications to develop and deliver a practical outreach plan. This might include public talks, film screenings, school and council fairs, and volunteer orientation events. You'll also help shape how we measure the impact of our outreach work as this programme develops. It's a role with real scope to make it your own, and to help SWR build deeper roots across the Sevenoaks district.
