We are currently recruiting for the following roles. To apply for a role, or if you can spare some hours and aren't sure whether these roles are for you, just get in touch for a chat: volunteers@sevenoakswelcomesrefugees.org . We would love to hear from you!
Trustee
Time commitment half a day a week, including online meetings.
SWR Trustees are responsible for the full range of Trustee duties including strategic oversight of SWR, financial accountability (we have a dedicated treasurer), planning and monitoring, transparency and accountability, safeguarding and wellbeing of refugees and volunteers, along with oversight of the Volunteer Leadership Team, the operational committee that is responsible for the day-to-day provision of services for refugees and volunteer tasking, training and wellbeing.
In addition to the formal Trustee role, most of our Trustees also undertake management roles to ensure the effective functioning of the charity. Trustees usually work with and manage teams of volunteers on specific functions that include: public outreach; recruitment; safeguarding; fundraising; communications and planning.
We are looking for two new Trustees to strengthen our Board. The new Trustees will be proactive and organised and will be willing to add to their formal Trustee role a few hours a week of management (to be matched to an applicant’s interest and availability) and support of the various functions, activities and events that make SWR tick. The Trustee Board is willing to explore with prospective applicants the range and the intensity of possible management tasks that lie beyond the formal role of Trustee. We are keen to make sure that there is a fit between an applicant’s interests and experience and the needs of the SWR.

The comms team at Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees (SWR) is about 10 strong, with volunteers involved in one or more comms activity - website (Google Sites), Facebook, Instagram, Mailchimp (emails), press/PR, graphic design, writers, video makers, and our Google Workspace system (gmail and document storage). The comms team plays a vital role in building SWR's profile, raising awareness of refugee issues and helping recruitment and fundraising efforts.
We are looking for volunteers with experience in one or more of the above communication activities, and a passion to help support the resettlement of refugees and asylum seekers in Sevenoaks District.

Non-Technical Google Workspace Lead
Time commitment 2-4 hours per week, including online meetings.
Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees uses the Google Workspace system for its e/gmail and document storage. The role of the Non-Technical Google Workspace Lead is to coordinate and lead the Google Workspace project team and Trustees to ensure that the system is operating in the best way possible. Part of this role is strategic - how do we want the system to develop? - and part of the role is practical: for example, managing a regular flow of new volunteers through their Google Workspace induction/training [and offering refresher training to volunteers who would like this].
To do this role, you don’t need to be a technical expert. But you need to be comfortable with standard workplace IT systems, a good organiser and have a passion to help support the resettlement of refugees and asylum seekers in Sevenoaks District.
