What we do
Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees is a local charity formed in 2017 originally to help support refugees from Syria resettling in the Sevenoaks district, as part what is now the UK Government's global UK Resettlement Scheme. We are also helping refugees from Afghanistan and Ukraine to resettle in our area.
We are a small and growing organisation, with about 160 active volunteers. We are currently helping to support the resettlement of 12 refugee families from Syria and Afghanistan in the Sevenoaks district area, and we are now working directly with 50 Ukrainian families.

Afghanistan
Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees is now playing an active role in the Afghanistan refugee resettlement programme. But for refugees to be resettled in our area we need to find more landlords willing to rent their properties to the scheme at Local Housing Allowance rates. We need more volunteers to help us search for more landlords.
Please see our urgent appeal for accommodation here and for the details of what is on offer to Landlords: click here.
UKRAINE
Please see Ukraine Crisis for the latest updates, and the latest financial support for hosts.
All of us at Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees will do what we can to help refugees and asylum seekers from Ukraine – and from all other places of conflict - resettle in the Sevenoaks District.
CULTURES TOGETHER IN HARMONY: A CELEBRATION OF MUSIC & DANCE
Many, many thanks to everyone who supported our fundraiser concert on Saturday 20 May. We are extremely grateful to everyone who bought tickets and helped in other ways, and we will ensure that the money is put to good use in support of refugees as they resettle in our area. We will soon publish the total amount raised. Thank you!
ITEMS NEEDED
We are looking for the following things:
Car seats for older children
A microwave oven
Bunk beds
Low coffee table
Pull along vacuum cleaner
We can collect. Please contact us if you can help at donateditems@sevenoakswelcomesrefugees.org or via our Facebook group or page.
For all other items, the refugee families that we are helping to support are pretty well sorted. People have been so very generous. We have no storage facilities and so we cannot take items and hold them for future families.
If you have items that we cannot take, you might want to consider the charity Refugease in Tonbridge.
With many thanks and all best wishes, Sevenoaks Welcomes Refugees
